I would like to take my child to the library storytimes, but I work during the day. Are there any in the evenings?

Permalink 01/15/09 12:09 , Categories: Library Web Site , Tags: children, event guide, storytime

Many libraries branches have storytimes for young children ranging in age from newborns to 6 years old. Most storytimes are in the morning, but a few are scheduled for afternoons and evenings.

The Martin Regional Library has an evening storytime for 3 to 5 year olds on Monday evening from 6:30 to 7:00pm. They also have a Spanish Storytime that meets Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:00pm.

For additional information about children’s programming consult the Library’s Event Guide. The event guide is available at all TCCL locations as well as online. In the online event guide, click on Advanced Search and use ‘Storytime’ (one word) in the keyword field.

I want to buy my spouse a digital camera for Christmas, but don't know much about them. Where can I find information on different models?

Permalink 12/03/08 16:33 , Categories: Database , Tags: christmas gifts, consumer reports, digital cameras

Consumer Reports offers information on product performance ratings and advice on how to determine which model is best for you. You can search and read Consumer Reports articles on our website. From our catalog perform a title search for Consumer Reports Online. Follow the link to a selection of databases. Any of these will lead you to the interface for Consumer Reports but MasterFILE is the easiest to use.

Once you are on the EBSCO Consumer Reports page, you can browse by year and volume, or click Search within this publication to search for a specific topic.

For this search, go to Search within this publication and add your search words, ‘digital cameras’, in the space directly under the JN “Consumer Reports” field. This will search for the keywords within all back issues. You will find that the December 2008 issue ran a cover story specifically on digital cameras. Click on the article title to display options to read, print, e-mail, or save the article.
