Oklahoma Senate Bill 1070 - Oklahoma Solicitation of Charitable Contributions Act
As you might imagine, there has been a lot of discussion regarding Senate Bill 1070 and its potential impact on the nonprofit sector. The Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits invites you to an educational videoconference session on the proposed legislation March 23 in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
Sen. Susan Paddack, author of SB 1070 and Mike Joseph of McAfee & Taft will join us to talk about SB 1070 and what it means.
The session is set for 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. This is a free event for Oklahoma nonprofits. Lunch will not be provided so bring your lunch with you. Please RSVP at one of the links below to reserve a seat.

The first workshop of the 2009 "No Nonsense Nonprofit" series will examine meeting procedure of nonprofit boards under Robert’s Rules of Order. You will learn about issues such as common misuse of parliamentary procedure, tips for presiding at a board meeting, and how to tailor the order of business to your needs. Important questions will be answered including how the conduct of business differs in small boards vs. large boards, when to use other parliamentary authorities, and what belongs in the minutes.The workshop will be given by Janet Wilson, M.D. Dr. Wilson is a Professional Registered Parliamentarian (PRP) with the National Association of Parliamentarians and a Certified Parliamentarian-Parliamentary Teacher (CP-T) with the American Institute of Parliamentarians.

The second workshop of our 2009 "No Nonsense Nonprofit" series will help you make sense out of financial statements. You will learn about the basic account types and what they mean, common accounting terminology, the difference between debits and credits, P&L, balance sheets, and simple tools to analyze your nonprofit’s financial health. This workshop is for staff, board members, volunteers, and anyone involved in finances or financial planning for nonprofit and public service organizations.
